Working closely with the board, shareholders and senior teams, we're looking for someone to implement a robust commercial framework that supports and sustains the growth of the business. You’ll be confident, diplomatic and organised in working collaboratively with a number of teams. You will provide strategic advice to upper management, focusing on commercial, contractual and financial strategies.
Job Description
The Commercial Director will be primarily expected to drive business growth through leading on Business Development and client facing opportunities. This will be achieved by:
- Setting and delivering the company plan alongside other members of the Senior Management Team
- Interpreting market trends and industry changes
- Making commercial recommendations to the business
- Streamlining lead generation processes enabling sales teams to chase leads swiftly
- Implementing new sales strategies and ensuring departments follow industry best practice
- Negotiating ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers
- Reviewing contracts and making recommendations on commerciality
- Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management
- Monitor and analyse submitted proposals (either won or lost) and identify areas for improvement for future submissions
The Successful Applicant
In order to apply for the Commercial Director role, candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong track record of building business from cold in a variety of industry verticals. In addition to this we are looking for:
- Degree or higher in Business Administration or similar
- At least 5 years experience in a senior commercial role
- Proven experience as Commercial Director or other relevant role
- In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
- Strong entrepreneurial skills and a natural ability to spot opportunities for revenue generation
- Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
- Natural leader of people with excellent managerial and motivational skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
