- Plan, organise and coordinate IT projects in close cooperation with key stakeholders.
- Define project objectives, scope, outcomes and deliverables.
- Proactively monitoring the projects progress including; recording, resolution and escalation of associated issues and risks.
- Communicating professionally, including creation of executive level deliverables to support decision making.
- Plan and monitor the project with regards time, cost, resources and the quality of the end products.
- Direct and motivate the resources assigned to the Project Team.
- Prepare Project, Stage and, if necessary make Exception Plans in conjunction with Project Team and agree them with the Project Sponsor and the Programme Management Office.
- Manage business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans.
- Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources, and initiate corrective action where necessary.
- Managing progress and project reporting for all technical resources assigned to the project.
- Responsible for managing the scope via a structured change control process.
- Reporting to the Project Board and Programme Office through Status Reports and Assessment.
- Where required you will be expected to manage the delivery of multiple small projects and service requests.
- Coaching one or more of the Junior Project Managers within the team around areas of best practice.
- Agree roles and responsibilities for the project including the formation of an appropriate project governance structure.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
- Delivering projects within a programme and as such will be accountable to the Programme Manager responsible for that.
- Ensure that their projects produce the required outputs, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time, cost and quality.
- Adhering to the project management framework, tools, processes and reporting principles set out by the PMO.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
Other Skills
- Knowledge of working with and delivering a wide variety of IT Projects and related technologies.
- Experienced in softer skills, including the political and cultural aspects of project management.
- Driven and enthusiastic with a ‘can-do’ attitude to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion whilst working collaboratively with others.
- Proven written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills that can be executed credibly to inspire confidence in you and the delivery of the project.
- Demonstrable project management expertise with experience of having delivered projects through a full project lifecycle.
- Have experience of PRINCE 2, Agile and Scrum approaches to delivery.
- Strong familiarity with project management software/tools, such as Microsoft Project.
- Leadership and influencing skills, strong ability to partner and work in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages, including Project, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Ability to effectively prioritise work & work under pressure, often without supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Must be self-motivated.
