This role is responsible for developing and executing the softhome merchandise activities for a fast growing hardgoods discount retailer in Europe, driving growth through a market-leading product assortment, robust vendor partnerships, and a commitment to exceptional customer satisfaction.

  • Build and strengthen long-term relationships with customer to drive sustainable growth and new business opportunities.
  • Lead and develop the merchandising team to meet business objectives while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and nurture a robust local and regional vendor network to meet current and future business needs.
  • Oversee the team’s merchandising activities to ensure optimal assortment, presentation, and customer experience.
  • Identify and implement solutions to support smooth production, supply, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor sales performance, budgets, and profitability; translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to align goals and drive coordinated execution.
  • Coach and develop the team, including succession planning and regular performance reviews, to support individual growth and a high-performance culture.
  • Maintain proactive communication with vendors, address delivery issues, and secure reliable fulfillment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

 

You might be a good fit if you have … 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of merchandising or supply chain experience, with at least 6 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven product knowledge and experience in softhome products.
  • Experience working with major European retailers or in large sourcing offices
  • A proactive mindset and eagerness to seize opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate cross-cultural dynamics effectively.
  • A strong understanding of operational needs and challenges.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work under pressure, demonstrating an energetic, proactive, and self-motivated approach.
  • Capability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  •  Willingness to travel occasionally.
