Position Objective:

Construction of civil structures is an important component of HDF’s programs, which includes buildings of schools, community health centers, water filtration plants, reverse osmosis filtration plants, check dams, delay action dams, houses, toilets and water ponds.

The Civil Engineer has an overall responsibility to execute construction of civil works, ensure quality and compliance to standard designs, plan and implement projects according to budgets and timelines, draw and finalize drawings and work as focal person for selection of contractors. Reporting to General Manager Program, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for frequent site visits, reporting as well as budgeting of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for structural design/construction dynamics of civil work projects.
• Examine/prepare and verify technical drawings and projects’ architectural specifications to ensure executions conformance to regulatory standards and contract requirements.
• Undertaking technical feasibility studies including site investigations, soil testing, surveying and analyzing data including maps, reports, tests drawings etc.
• Develop detailed diagrams using Auto CAD and other relevant software’s.
• Develop and monitor cost estimates, budgets and project resources and serve as focal person for verification of mid-project and completion reports.
• Prepare economic feasibility of projects.
• Monitoring Contractual Work as per BOQ and Plans
• Ensure compliance to legal requirements and health environment Safety Standards.
• Oversee and analyze the results of soil testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations of structures.
• Assess potential risks, materials and costs.
• Resolve emerging problems / deficiencies and make recommendations or present alternative solutions to problems.
• Monitor and ensure quality standards and proper construction administration, as per approved plans.
• Reviewing government regulations and ordinances and ensure approval of building drawings from relevant departments.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including material and labor for construction of schools, Community Health Center, Mini Dams, Water Filtration Plants and other WASH facilities.
• Confidently liaising with clients and other professional subcontractors.
• Complete quality assurance and provide feedback and periodic reports to the management.
• Ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the specifications
• Agree a price for materials and make cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.

Minimum Requirement

Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from HEC recognized University. Active member – Pakistan Engineering Council.  

Experience:

Three to five years’ experience of planning, coordination, management and supervision of all onsite construction related activities while taking in to account technical feasibility studies including site investigations, raw materials, developing analyzing data (maps, reports, tests drawings and others) using Auto CAD and range of computer software for civil work projects. Hands on knowledge about supply chain resource for construction materials.
