- Operate, maintain, repair and exercise/test, as applicable, all emergency generators, connections and transfer switches. Responsibility, co-ordination and supervision of Semi-annual Automatic Transfer Switches ( ATS ) maintenance activities of generators. Perform troubleshooting procedures and processes on generators to determine the problem cause and develop repair methods, parts requirements and repair priorities and schedules.
- Perform inspection services on all electric system equipment and facilities to determine maintenance needs and establish priorities for repair and maintenance.
- Departmental Required Skills This position requires knowledge, skills and abilities in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and generators.
- Working knowledge is required of all applicable codes, safety precautions and methods of installation and repair. Must be skilled in the use of tools, materials and equipment of electrical trades.
- Must possess the ability to assume responsibility as a lead person.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings of projects and be able to follow those layouts.
- Must possess the ability to use various electronic instruments, meters and testers that record data of systems and equipment operation.
- Working knowledge of hand tools, machines and substances typical of electrical trade.
- Ability to operate both electric and hand powered tools and use lift trucks in performance of duties and a working knowledge of general shop tools and equipment.
- Must possess or obtain competent knowledge to serve as a competent person for confined space.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
- Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education three years of progressive experience in maintenance or repair of emergency generators.
