Position: Jr. Systems Administrator (Linux)
Base Location: Karachi, Pakistan
Job Type: Full Time
Job Description:
- We are looking for a Junior Linux administrator who will be responsible for Assist installing new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories and storage.
- Provide technical support to development staff, assist with the configuration and operation of client based computer operating systems.
- Assist configure networking services and protocols designing, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure; also, to collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
- You will become an integral part of the team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly.
Core Responsibilities:
- Providing support to classified information systems
- Audits and manages access management of classified information systems
- Support internal user’s technology needs
- LAN/WAN Support, Network segments, internet/intranet systems administration
- Integrate new products into Corporate infrastructure
- Evaluate and modify system's performance for efficient operation and system security
- Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, software deployment, security updates and patches
- Maintains computer-related hardware and peripherals
- Establishes and documents processes and procedures for systems administration; supports all personnel as they use system procedures.
- Windows Active Directory Management (User creation, DNS record management, group policy management, etc.)
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures; performs system troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems
- Assists with building, installing, deploying, and upgrading system hardware and software components as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Required Experience:
- University degree in Computer Science or a related subject
- Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/Debian) Administration
- Experience with MacOS Administration
- Ability to work independently and with teams according to deadlines
- Willingness and aptitude for learning modern technologies/skills
- Commitment to excellence and high-fidelity work
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Experience with Computer Networking
- Experience with Virtualization environments (VMWare, XenServer, VirtualBox)
- Understanding of and Experience with standard network protocols/programs such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, SSH, etc.
- Ability to independently identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues both locally and remote
- Experience working in an Agile environment with Agile software tools (JIRA, Git, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications: Network+, Security+, Linux+, CCNA, A+, etc.
- Experience with at least 1 Scripting language (Python, Perl, Bash, etc.)
- Experience with any computer imaging software
- Experience managing and implementing virtualized servers using Type 1 Hypervisors (Xen, ESXi, etc.)
- Understanding of practical Systems Administration practices
- Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
Minimum Experience:
1 – 2 years’ experience in a relevant field.
