Job Overview/Summary:

  • Finance Manager - Projects will be responsible for the financial management of various donor grants.
  • This position will assist the Finance Coordinator - Projects in effective financial management of project grant to facilitate smooth implementation of the projects.

Major Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the financial management, operations and reporting of projects in accordance with IRC policies and donor regulations. Specific responsibilities are as follows:

  • Collaborate with Program, Operations, Award Management Unit and Partnership teams for strategic program-finance linkages by providing timely analytics and guidance about financial policies.
  • Assist Finance Coordinator in monitoring Projects budgets to ensure that spending occurs as planned and that variances are anticipated, noted, and corrected through financial reports and BVA analysis.  
  • Review all Project related Personnel request and Purchase Requests for proper coding and budget adequacy before approval.
  • Review funding allocations to enable proper guidance to programs and proper coding.
  • Assists with the preparation and revision of program and grant proposals and budgets. Prepare Budget entries and adjustments, also ensuring to upload in organization’s Accounting System on timely basis.
  • Review of actual vs. budget results with individual program managers, to ensure maximum utilization of budgeted amounts and to provide recommendations for realignments as required.
  • Perform grants and expense trend analysis and prepare spreadsheets, graphs and charts to help illustrate financial trends.
  • Provide financial analysis on a regular basis to drive strategic decisions and drive organization initiatives through budgetary goals.
  • Assist in reviewing the preparation of monthly funding requirements and ensure that all programs receive the funds as per their requirement in a timely manner.
  • Stay informed of and ensure adherence to IRC and donor procedures and policies in relation to Supply Chain, Finance, HR and Programs as set out in relevant IRC manuals and guidelines.
  • Assist in timely submission of accurate and quality periodic donor financial reports, by keeping track of all donor financial reporting requirements and deadlines.

Job Requirements:

Education: University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration. Master’s degree in accounting, Finance or accredited certification (preferable)

Work Experience:  

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare financial / accounting reports including with reconciliation process.
  • At least 7year experience in accounting and financial management or at least 5 years’ experience in the manager position.
  • Experience with accounting system, ERP and other related system.
