Job Overview/Summary:

Under the supervision of DRR Specialist, the Sr. WASH Officer will be responsible for planning and successful implementation of construction/rehabilitation of DRR and WASH Infrastructure as per the standards and norms in the target villages under IRC Sindh | BDRP project

Major Responsibilities: -

  •  Extend technical support to other sectors and community in conducting need assessment for identification and verification of selected drought/ flood damaged location for small, medium and large scale Risk Mitigation Projects and priority ranking of DRR/ WASH interventions.
  • Prepare technical design, Bill of Quantity (BOQs), budget, tender and SOPs documents for all resilient infrastructure related activities
  • Provide technical assistance to the DRR, WASH, MEAL and Livelihoods teams for the identification, prioritization and monitoring of the infrastructure activities
  • To conduct trainings regarding operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation facilities/ shelter for beneficiaries through coordination with CDMCs.
  • Regular monitoring of ongoing construction activities to ensure that all the activities are implemented as per design, specifications, work schedule and also contributing to resilience.
  • Keep close intr-sector coordination through mainstreaming DRR with WASH activities. 
  • Ensure storage and delivery of related materials, equipment, tools and consumables on work site and maintenance of proper records.
  • Prepare work completion report of the DRR/WASH schemes and submit to the supervisor for necessary verification, payment to the labor in a timely manner and compliance
  • Working in harmony with all other project staff and field team for the effective and efficient day-to-day management of the project in Sindh
  • Prepare weekly, monthly work plans and progress reports
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements:

Education: qualified professional person with M. Tech /B. Sc/BE Degree in Civil Engineering.

Work Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in WASH and DRR Infrastructure projects

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

·         Sound knowledge of SPHERE standards

·         Ability to work without close supervision

·         Good Command on engineering plans, design, BoQs, layout and use of Auto Cad

·         Knowledge of Computer, MS Office

Language Skills: -   Fluent in local languages along with good Urdu and English speaking/writing skills

Working Environment:  Works well in and promotes teamwork, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
