Research and knowledge creation

  • Coordinate with thematic leads in determining research priorities for all country program and developing research roadmap.·        
  • Identify potential idea, plan, execute, supervise research, implement new methodologies, and write reports.·        
  • Conduct desk review of researches and paper to develop and organizational understanding on the topic.·        
  • Supervise research team or partners on daily basis to complete research projects within deadlines.·        
  • Develop synopsis of the policies and procedures to facilitate dialogues by Advocacy lead at appropriate forums.·        
  • Identify key challenges that come across while implementing research and develop appropriate solutions.·       
  • Research events, publications and announcements, to track and screen opportunities for possible IRPs interventions and identify trends that will drive knowledge creation opportunities.·         Collate all the data in regards to climate impact related activities and assist in preparing periodic reports both internal and external.·        
  • Monitor the execution of researches and control expenses within allotted budget·        
  • Introduce/explore digital technology and communications platforms to collect primary data that provides a cost effective alternate by deploying remote data collection pathways that are inclusive, have a limited reliance on in-person data collection, and can be used at scale.·        
  • Promotes research capacity building among community-based organizations and program staff

Developing evidence base for policy advocacy and providing knowledge base for integrated cross sector programme design

  • Closely work with relevant colleagues (Specialists and Area teams) to explore country and province level partnerships with academia and government entities leading towards joint research
  • Helping evolving advocacy agenda in relation to the VOCAL campaigns from district to provincial level with focus on existing policies and gaps
  • Implementing advocacy agenda in the form of identification and representation at suitable forums, initiatives and campaigns by engaging different stakeholders, particularly government at district, provincial and national level
  • Producing paper on strategically linking the climate advocacy initiatives with DRR. Food Security, WASH and Livelihoods policies and issues on the ground and promoting culture of dialogues and accountability between community and government line departments
  • Closely engaging with area office teams in designing and organizing advocacy initiatives and campaigns
  • The Sr. officer will be involved in projects inception, design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of activities and funds
  • Designing and developing innovative CN/proposals to secure funds for the initiatives to strengthen the organization climate change agenda.

External, Stakeholders engagements

  • Building alliances and coalitions at national level with likeminded organizations to effectively take forward the cause of the deprived people
  • Leading, managing and coordinating the forums and events under advocacy initiatives in consultation with team of area offices·      
  • Chalking out media strategy for advocacy initiatives in close coordination with the communication department as outcomes of the initiatives can be widely published and disseminated
  • In view of changing policy arena at local, provincial and national level, the organization may assign additional assignment related to advocacy
  • Diversify and deepen existing partnerships with UN agencies, academia, think tanks, counter parts and private sector entities to broaden funding and programming base.

Person Specification

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision and mission as well as commitment to its SEAH (sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. We have zero tolerance policy towards SEAH and doesn’t support any action that promote or encourage SEAH.

Qualification:

Master’s Degree in social sciences preferably in discipline i.e. in Research and Development, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or similar fields of study.

Experience:

A minimum of 3/5 years (or more based on academic credentials) in quantitative and qualitative research techniques and their appropriate usage ¾ Proven research and evaluation experience and expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Track record of undertaking and/or commissioning at minimum 2-3 research studies that have informed practice/policy development.

Expertise in research techniques, Knowledge of evaluation methodologies, setup/design, planning, resource allocation/management, implementation, stakeholder management, monitoring/oversight, and risk management.

IT Skills:

Excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analysis softwares i.e. SPSS, STATA, JMP etc.

Language:

Excellent English writing skills are essential.
