The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be instrumental in administering, maintaining, and supporting all Careem-managed IT systems and network infrastructure to ensure smooth daily operations and drive continuous infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, support, and administer IT infrastructure services and systems, including voice and data networks, MPLS, DPLC, wireless, and multisite mesh networks.
- Monitor and maintain network layers 1 through 7, delivering comprehensive end-to-end support.
- Design and implement new network solutions or optimize existing networks to improve performance and efficiency.
- Install, configure, and support network equipment such as routers, switches, SASE gateways, firewalls, WAN accelerators, aggregators, and wireless networks.
- Manage escalated incidents from the IT Service Desk, ensuring timely communication and resolution within SLA targets.
- Oversee infrastructure changes in a controlled and auditable manner, leading continuous improvement initiatives and infrastructure projects.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend and implement enhancements.
- Document network infrastructure thoroughly, including hardware/software inventory and network diagrams.
- Conduct root cause analysis and manage incident resolution while effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide 24x7 second-line support and escalation for IT infrastructure and network services.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party suppliers to conduct service reviews and manage vendor relationships.
- Assist project teams with infrastructure changes and resolve single points of failure within the infrastructure.
- Communicate project information clearly to management and deliver well-organized presentations.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and escalate issues appropriately.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Network Administrator in organizations with 1000+ users.
- Strong knowledge of datacenter management, unified communication suites, LAN/WAN, wireless networks, virtualization, and the TCP/IP protocol stack.
- Experience with routing, switching, MPLS networks, firewalls, SASE networks, VPN technologies, and system monitoring tools.
- Exposure to VMware ESX, vCenter, major virtualization platforms, Linux, VoIP telephony systems, and voice infrastructure.
- Familiarity with IT security tools, information governance, basic application programming, database, and system design concepts.
- Proven problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and analytical mindset.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and evaluate solutions effectively.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCITP, AWS/Azure, Security+, and ITIL are highly desirable.
- Experience with next-generation firewalls, mobile device management (MDM), virtualization technologies, Active Directory, Single Sign-On (SSO), and managing heterogeneous network environments.
- Knowledge of Zscaler, JumpCloud, Sonus voice gateways, Genesis call center on-premises solutions, Cisco Meraki platform, and Orange MPLS is advantageous.
