The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be instrumental in managing, maintaining, and supporting Careem’s IT systems and network infrastructure, ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, support, and administer IT infrastructure services including voice and data networks, MPLS, DPLC, wireless, and multisite mesh networks.
- Monitor and maintain network layers 1 through 7, providing comprehensive end-to-end support.
- Design and implement new network solutions or optimize existing networks to improve efficiency and performance.
- Install, configure, and support network equipment such as routers, switches, SASE gateways, firewalls, WAN accelerators, aggregators, and wireless networks.
- Manage escalated incidents from the IT Service Desk, ensuring timely resolution within SLA targets and providing daily updates with detailed troubleshooting.
- Oversee infrastructure changes in a controlled and auditable manner, contributing to projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend improvements.
- Document network infrastructure, including hardware/software inventories and network diagrams.
- Conduct root cause analysis and manage incidents to ensure rapid resolution, evaluating solutions and associated risks.
- Provide 24/7 second-line support and escalation services, resolving production incidents and underlying causes.
- Approve new systems or changes for release readiness and conduct service reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and support project teams during infrastructure changes.
- Communicate effectively with management, deliver clear presentations, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Network Administrator in organizations with 1000+ users.
- Strong knowledge of data center management, unified communication suites, LAN/WAN, wireless networks, virtualization, and TCP/IP protocols.
- Experience with routing, switching, MPLS networks, firewalls, SASE networks, VPN technologies, and system monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with VMware ESX, vCenter, and major virtualization platforms.
- Working knowledge of open-source technologies including Linux and VoIP telephony systems.
- Solid understanding of IT security tools, information governance, application programming basics, database, and system design.
- Proven problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and persistent approach to troubleshooting.
- Relevant certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE or MCITP, AWS/Azure certifications, Security+, and ITIL are highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
