The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be instrumental in administering, maintaining, and supporting Careem’s IT systems and network infrastructure, ensuring seamless daily operations and driving continuous improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, support, and administer IT infrastructure services and systems, including voice and data networks, MPLS, DPLC, wireless, and multisite mesh networks.
- Monitor and maintain all network layers (1 through 7) to provide comprehensive end-to-end support.
- Design and implement new network solutions or optimize existing networks for improved efficiency.
- Install, configure, and support network equipment such as routers, switches, SASE gateways, firewalls, WAN accelerators, aggregators, and wireless networks.
- Manage escalated incidents from the IT Service Desk, ensuring timely resolution and communication within SLA targets.
- Oversee infrastructure changes, ensuring they are controlled, auditable, and aligned with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on the latest technology trends and industry best practices to inform infrastructure strategy.
- Document network infrastructure thoroughly, including hardware/software inventories and network diagrams.
- Conduct root cause analysis and manage incidents to ensure rapid and comprehensive resolution.
- Monitor and report on IT infrastructure and network services, providing 24x7 second-line support and escalation.
- Accept new systems or changes as fit for release and conduct service reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
- Coordinate with third-party suppliers to ensure effective support and incident resolution.
- Assist project teams with infrastructure changes and track resolution of single points of failure.
- Communicate effectively with management, delivering clear project updates and handling sensitive information with discretion.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT infrastructure engineering, systems, or network administration within organizations supporting 1000+ users.
- Strong knowledge of datacenter management, unified communication suites, LAN/WAN/Wireless networks, and virtualization technologies.
- Proficient understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack, routing, switching, MPLS networks, firewalls, SASE networks, VPN technologies, and system monitoring.
- Experience with VMware ESX, vCenter, and major virtualization platforms.
- Familiarity with open-source technologies including Linux and VoIP telephony systems.
- Solid understanding of IT security tools, information governance, and basic application programming concepts.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and persistent approach.
- Ability to evaluate options, generate solutions, and troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, MCITP, AWS/Azure, Security+, and ITIL are highly desirable.
- Experience with next-generation firewalls, mobile device management (MDM), Active Directory, SSO, SASE, and managing heterogeneous network environments.
- Knowledge of administration and deployment of platforms like Zscaler, JumpCloud, Sonus voice gateways, Genesis call center on-premises solutions, Cisco Meraki, and Orange MPLS is advantageous.
