Job Description:
· Responsible for overall manufacturing/operations at the steel plant (including melting and rolling) – Production managers for separate plants may also apply
· Relevant knowledge of material types, manufacturing, and industrial processes related to the steel industry
· Ensure optimum and most efficient manufacturing at the plant
· Ensure minimum cost of production at the plant
· Ensure minimum breakdowns, and in case of breakdown, quickest possible turnaround time
· Ensure maximum personal presence/ availability at the plant, especially at critical times and/or when needed
· Manage and maintain plant and machinery in optimal working condition at all times
· Manage the relevant skilled and unskilled manpower at the plant
· Foster a well-trained and motivated team
· Manage trainings to keep team up to date with modern techniques and systems of steel manufacturing
· The Management of Ittehad Steel is of the firm belief of no compromise on quality; therefore the Production Manager will be responsible to ensure the highest standards of quality of Finished Product
· Close coordination with all other departments to ensure smooth operations
· Coordination and reporting to the Management
· Develop all Manufacturing systems, including Manuals
· Preparation of all relevant Manufacturing Reports and Logs
· Keeping the plant and operations up to date with the latest technologies, to ensure maximum yields and efficiencies, especially keeping in view the very competitive nature of the steel industry
· Ensure and maintain a Politics Free Environment, and maintain highest ethical standards
· Any other task related to the manufacturing process at the plant, directly or indirectly
Experience & Skills:
· Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the Steel /Metal industry, of which at least 5 years as an Operation/Production Manager
· Well versed in Basic Computer Skills: Excel, Word etc
· Ability to communicate, including through Email, whatsapp etc
· Experience at Steel Plant through New Plant Selection, Erection and Commissioning will be given extra consideration
· Ability to have a holistic and long term approach
· Past Job Duration(s) will be a factor in selection
Minimum Education:
· BSC in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering or any other Relevant Educational Background

Ittehad Steel's affiliation with the steel industry dates back to 1970 when we started out as a steel trading house in Rawalpindi. Soon enough, in 1978, we had started a steel manufacturing facility in Islamabad, becoming one of the pioneers in steel manufacturing in the region. Our first plant had a production capacity of a meager 35,000-40,000 TPY. Today Ittehad Steel is the second largest steel manufacturer in the private sector, with a capacity of about 400,000 tons per year. Facilities include three steel re-rolling mills, and 2 steel induction furnaces. With locations in Faisalabad and Islamabad, it gives us the unique edge of being able to cater to customer demand and requirements throughout Pakistan. Over the years, the brand ‘Ittehad Steel’ has become synonymous with products of quality and reliability. We are recognized nationally as one of the few manufacturers of standardized and internationally accredited structural steel products in Pakistan. We are also one of the leading exporters of steel products to Afghanistan, and were awarded the Export Performance Award 2006 by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Having acquired an extra 32 acres of land next to our existing facility in Faisalabad, our future plans include the commissioning of a state of the art Steel Re Rolling Mill, which will enhance the production capacity to about 1,000,000 tons a year. Future plans also include a captive power generation plant to be less dependent on the national grid. Besides the manufacturing of Steel Billets and Steel bars, the current facility also has the provision of manufacturing Stainless Steel, and other Alloys, including those required for automotive and defense industry.
