Job Description:

Overview: 

The Communication Officer will be responsible for managing information and communication activities for the JHPIEGO MCSP Project.  Reporting to Sr. Technical Advisor and  will work closely with  program staff to collect, analyze and share information and communicate MCSP Project  work to key stakeholders, such as donors, beneficiaries, partners, and the wider public. Responsible to make sure branding guidelines of JHPEIGO/Donor for all correspondence external/internal and printing.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Project Director/ Sr. Technical Advisor in the development and maintenance of internal information policies and protocols.
  • Prepare, edit, and update reports, fact sheets, case studies, and other public information documents.
  • Assist in the research and writing of briefing and training materials.
  • In coordination with the Project Director and programs staff, respond to internal information requests from staff in international offices, partners and donors.
  • Prepare briefing packs for donor and other visitors to Jhpiego MCSP response activities in the field, as necessary.
  • Track, research and analyse information on assigned topics.
  • As needed, assist the Project Director with external communications materials (e.g. media stories, photographs, video footage for external news outlets and social media).
  • As needed, assist in the research and writing of briefing materials and advocacy papers in coordination with the Regional Advocacy Officer.
  • Develop communication objectives and communication plans.
  • Identify users, and suggest communication material and the  best forms of communication to use.
  • Arrange publicity for the organization through different outlets.
  • Keep staff and clients up to date with MCSP Project news

 Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor (Hons) in Social Sciences or Masters in Mass Communication.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in journalism, communication and/or development.
  • 1-2 years at NGO/International Agency.
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Able to work well both within a team and independently, in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit articles and reports under deadline pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural & diplomacy skills.
  • Proven photography skills (stills and video) preferred.
