Jhpiego is an international non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University, USA. For more than 40 years and in over 150 countries, Jhpiego has worked to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Jhpiego is dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries. Jhpiego is addressing critical public health issues in Pakistan through collaboration with national and local government, training institutions, private practitioners and health educators. Jhpiego has been working in Pakistan since 1997 on various projects like Key Social Marketing, FALAH and PRIDE. Currently Jhpiego is working on “Innovation and Quality postpartum family services in Sargodha Punjab”. Jhpiego requires a female ’Program Officer Clinical’ for its Family Planning project in District Sargodha, Punjab.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Senior Technical & Program Advisor (STPA) in day to day affairs of the technical team.
  • Possess good knowledge of FP/PPFP Services.
  • Monitor progress towards the program goal and objectives as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Assist in annual work plan and quarterly program report development.
  • Work collaboratively with technical team to produce effective and timely program products, whether they are technical or program briefs or reports, communication products or manuscripts.
  • Monitor technical team performance through program activities to ensure that the activities and expenditures are on target.
  • Participate and conduct technical trainings on FP/PPFP.
  • Liaison with other key departments (HR, Operations, finance etc.) to monitor the progress of the activities and facilitate in minimizing bottlenecks to accelerate the process of decision making and implementation of decision, as assigned by STPA
  • Provide technical content to the communications team for program dissemination. 
  • Engage with local stakeholders to develop relationships
  • Facilitate coordination among team members and assist in trouble shooting and will closely work with technical team
  • Preparing minutes of the meetings and documentation of decision and follow –up of action plans, assist STPA
  • Assist in monitoring progress of MOUs and partnership agreements.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and donors in country, region or worldwide
  • Ensure compliance with Jhpiego and JHU operational policies and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Female doctor with MBBS /Nurse with Midwifery / LHV or related field
  • 5 years’ required; preferred experience in managing health programs
  • Experience in Gynae/Obs or public health will be additional benefit.
  • Strong programming, management and technical skills, specifically with Family Planning /Reproductive Health Programs in Pakistan
  • Experience in the development of strategic and tactical plans in cooperation with other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of  technical partners
  • Ability to manage several major activities simultaneously and demonstrable evidence of excellent organizational skills
  • Strong change management, results oriented and decision making skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Ability to travel independently up to 60% of the time to the field
  • Strong computer skills including command on excel and word package
  •  Willing to travel extensively in project district across Punjab.
  • A self-starter with a pro-active, has a can-do attitude and manages conflicting demands.

Jhpiego develops strategies to help countries care for themselves by training competent health care workers, strengthening health systems and improving the delivery of care. Jhpiego has been working in Pakistan since 1997 when it provided technical assistance under a series of maternal and reproductive health projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). One of the Project aims in Pakistan is to improve the quality of public and private sector health services. Healthcare providers will be trained; health facilities renovated and services will be expanded and improved. We also will improve access of women and children to health services especially the poor and those who do not or cannot go for health care, by educating communities and families and setting up better transport and communications systems. By 2017, thousands of deaths of women, newborn babies and infants will have been prevented as a result of the USAID/Pakistan MCH Program. USAID/Pakistan has, in cooperation with the USAID Office of Inspector General, established the Anti-Fraud Hotline to provide an avenue for the reporting of fraud, waste, and abuse which may be associated with USAID funded projects in Pakistan.
