Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins. The ideal candidate will transform Figma, Sketch, or PSD designs into responsive, SEO-friendly websites while ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security. This role requires collaboration with design and content teams to deliver a seamless user experience and integration of third-party tools such as HubSpot and Mailchimp. The developer will also be responsible for troubleshooting, debugging, and staying updated with the latest WordPress and web development trends.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored to project requirements. Convert design files from Figma, Sketch, or PSD into fully responsive and SEO-optimized WordPress websites. Ensure websites perform efficiently with fast load times and scalability to handle growth. Implement third-party integrations, including APIs and marketing tools like HubSpot and Mailchimp, to enhance website functionality. Customize and extend existing WordPress sites using hooks, filters, and adhere to WordPress best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to themes, plugins, and hosting environments promptly. Collaborate closely with designers and content teams to ensure the final product delivers an exceptional user experience. Maintain website security by managing regular backups, updates, and monitoring for vulnerabilities. Continuously research and adopt new tools, trends, and best practices in WordPress and web development to keep our sites modern and effective.
Required Qualifications
Strong expertise in WordPress core, theme, and plugin development is essential. Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (with a focus on jQuery), and MySQL is required to build and customize websites effectively. Experience with modern frontend frameworks and build tools such as React, Webpack, and Sass is a valuable plus. Familiarity with Gutenberg block development is important for creating dynamic content layouts. Hands-on experience with WooCommerce, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), and other popular WordPress plugins is expected. A solid understanding of SEO principles, website performance optimization, and accessibility standards is necessary to ensure high-quality deliverables. Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git, is required for collaborative development and code management. Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail will help maintain code quality and site stability. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for working effectively within cross-functional teams. Experience with headless WordPress setups or REST API integrations is highly desirable. Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and deployment automation will be beneficial. Basic familiarity with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager is also preferred.
