- Handling all claims including but not limited to Shipping Line claims for Container damages, Cargo damages, ship damages, shippers/consignees claims and property damage claims.
- Follow up with Insurance Company for claims settlement
- Drafting/Vetting legal documents/contracts in effective manner to avoid legal implications.
- Providing Legal assistance/advice to Unit Heads.
- Liaison with Panel Lawyers for pending/new cases.
- Rendering Legal Opinion on sensitive strategic matters.
- Support HR Department in handling Industrial Disputes and negotiation with workers union.
- Assisting HR in employee related issues.
- Ensure strict compliance of applicable Federal/Provincial laws & regulations to ensure smooth business operation and avoid any adverse legal consequences.
- Providing regular updates to higher management on the pending claims and court cases.
- Handling legal and arbitration proceedings to ensure company’s stand is well portrayed and pleaded before adjudicating authorities.
- Accountable for managing safety & health in his area of responsibility in line with Company’s policies on Health, Safety & Environment.
- Any other responsibility which may be assigned by the management at any point in time.
