- Interpret high-level user stories provided by product managers into a simple, concise and obvious user experience
- Work closely with a team of product managers and designers to ensure that your designs fit within the overall ecosystem and function at the service of the customer
- Delivery high-quality, detailed visual designs to support your user experience. We expect a high attention to detail and appreciate it when you recognize that a pixel is out of place.
- Work to craft the precise language used in the app to guide customers through setup experiences and assuage their fears if something goes awry
- Help balance the desires of modern, cutting-edge design trends with the reality of an extremely varied user group
- Serve as a continuing customer advocate for simplified features in an increasingly complicated ecosystem
- Identify and meticulously plan for corner case scenarios that would ruin a customer's experience with our products and provide elegant recovery options for such customers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with product managers, app developers and firmware engineers on shipping products
- Proficiency with Sketch for UI design
- Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to distill complex interactions to straightforward, approachable user experiences
- Just-shy-of-obsessive attention to detail
- Experience designing software that interfaces with physical hardware
- Experience working with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Z-Wave or Insteon smart home technology
- Experience working with Amazon Echo, Google Home
- Experience working in sprints using the Agile/Scrum process
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly-organized and efficient use of time to help meet tight deadlines across multiple projects
- Team player who can give and receive design feedback in an effort to improve everyone's designs
