Position Purpose:

Design, develop and maintain chemical engineering laboratories at undergraduate and graduate level.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation of chemical solutions and other materials required in the laboratories
  • Familiarity with and operation of special laboratory equipment, including analytical equipment, data measurement devices and meters, pumps, reactors, membranes, heat exchangers, other unit operations, and biological materials and equipment such as microscopes
  • Provision of technical support for the purchase of new laboratory equipment and software, and recommendations for replacement of laboratory equipment
  • Handle paperwork associated with the purchase and repair of laboratory equipment, supplies and inventory
  • Development of new or modified course manuals for use by students
  • Be responsible for maintaining the laboratory manuals up-to-date for reproduction purposes
  • Supervise health and safety aspects of undergraduate laboratories for all students, Teaching Assistants and others
  • Perform library searches, reading, and professional training to remain current with developments in Chemical Engineering and education
  • Supervise and demonstrate chemical engineering unit operations/processes to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Design and develop new experiments for undergraduate and graduate level chemical engineering laboratory
  • Manage chemical engineering resources, lab computers, write reports and other day-to-day teaching assignments
  • Assisting faculty in teaching undergraduate students of chemical engineering in classroom and laboratory
  • Facilitate undergraduate and graduate students in senior projects and thesis research

Other Responsibilities

  • As assigned by Head of department from time to time
  • Report to and take advice from faculty to carry out all responsibilities

Skills

  • Excel
  • AutoCAD
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Urdu are essential
  • Drafting P&IDs and PFDs
  • Maintain data books and record
  • Programming skill in C/C++ or R/MATLAB
