Job Description


Attendance and involvement at work:

·      Observe the MSF charter.

·      Perform all activity in line with the MSF protocols and procedures.

·      Respect the time schedule and be at work on time (flexible at anytime).

·      Treat the patient with care and respect providing good quality care.

·      Respect the patient privacy and strictly respect community culture, norms.

·      Maintain good relationship with other team members.

·      Adhere to MSF Clinical Guidelines and protocols.

1.  Laboratory:

·      Collecting blood samples from the patients on medical prescription in accordance of Universal Precautions.

·      Performing the Laboratory investigations on medical prescription.

·      Compiling properly the forms and registers respecting the Medical Confidentiality.

·      Being responsible for hygiene condition of laboratory equipment and working area.

·      Being responsible for safe waste management inside the Laboratory.

·      Being responsible for the proper stock management of laboratory items (checking the expired dates of consumable material and laboratory reagents, tests).

·      Performing weekly physical inventory, preparing the weekly order validated by Hospital Manager.

·      Checking the temperature of cold chain and inside the laboratory twice per day, registering on form.

·      Informing the Hospital Manager in event of medical error and in event of any discrepancy and/or anomaly.

2.   Blood Bank:

·      Selecting the potential donors in accordance with MSF Blood Transfusion Guidelines.

·      Performing all the tests required for safety blood transfusion following the Universal Precautions.

·      Compiling properly the forms and registers respecting the Medical Confidentiality.

·      Being responsible for the blood collecting, labelling and correct storage.

·      Informing immediately direct supervisor in event of medical error, complications.

·      Checking the temperature of Blood bank twice per day and registering the form.

·      Informing immediately direct supervisor in event of accidental blood exposure.

3. Training:

·      Participating in on-going personnel training (care techniques, updating protocols, etc.) 

·      Participating to the weekly training session proposing and presenting topics.

·      Participating in medical meetings, weekly and when necessary.

4. Other:

·      Adhering to internal regulations, particularly regarding working hours. Referring to or asking the Field Administrator for advice if necessary.
