Médecins Sans Frontières is recruiting for its Women Hospital in Peshawar:


On-call Volunteering

(with symbolic financial compensation)

Médecins Sans Frontières is a private medical international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.


Provide back up support upon MSF request for gynaecologists in case of surgical complications relating to C-sections and other critical obstetrical emergencies, including haemorrhage, hysterectomy, bladder injury, all kind of laceration, uterus rupture:

·       Carry out emergency and programmed surgical intervention following MSF protocols and policies including swab counts, ensuring appropriate use of surgical equipment and proper OT registry entry/documentation of all OT interventions

·       Fill up patient’s file with all surgical reports

·       Collaborate with Anaesthetists, Operating Theatre Nurses and ward staff or other Unit Managers to ensure compliance with MSF protocols and rational use of medicines

·       Know and help implement the accidental blood exposure policy

·       Train supported gynaecologists during procedures

·       Ability to reach MSF Women’s Hospital within max 15 min after call


·       Essential: MRCS, FCPS, MS or equivalent recognized by PMDC

·   Previous surgical experience as stated in surgical CV/skill form (number of independently performed surgical interventions) in obstetric surgery and qualification is duly certified and verified. Desirable experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries

·       Fluent in English, Urdu and Pashto

·       Strong clinical skills, Teamwork, Flexibility, Patience, Diplomatic communication, Commitment, Reporting skills, Stress management, Availability

WORK LOCATION:               Peshawar Women Hospital - University Town – Gul Mohar Lane

VOLUNTEERING:                 on-call on roster basis
