General Position Summary  

The Coordinator CHTB, TB-HIV and TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) will be responsible to provide technical support to the team in the implementation of CHTB, TB-HIV and preventive treatment interventions in implementations districts. S/he will be responsible to work in close coordination with implementing partners to ensure effective implementation of these components.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop/adapt/update guidelines, recording and reporting tools for Preventive TB Treatment, TB-HIV and CHTB, in line with national and international protocols and guidelines
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for the implementation of the three components.
  • Work with the technical team to support rapid start-up and implementation of these components  
  • Work with technical team at county and Head Quarters level for the development of communications material for these components including but not limited to checklists for private healthcare providers and field staff, training material for counselors, awareness raising flyers etc.
  • Conduct online/in-person trainings of program team as well as of implementing partners on the guidelines of these components
  • Participate in random quarterly review meetings at district level to orientate and update private healthcare providers on the latest guidelines related to all three components
  • Conduct provincial level events with key stakeholders including Provincial TB Control Programs, professional bodies and healthcare commissions for advocacy around TB preventive treatment and TB-HIV
  • Work in close coordination with the consultant in developing and disseminating the national TB-HIV strategy for the private sector
  • Ensure implementation of the TB-HIV strategy by building capacity of implementing partners
  • Devise methodology to engage private healthcare providers in TB-HIV testing based on the national strategy
  • Conduct periodic visits of health facilities implementing these components to ensure they are following national guidelines, review their data, identify issues, make recommendations for improvement
  • Monitor and supervise chest camps linked with preventive treatment, analyze their data and share findings with the team and implementing partners
  • Work with the TB program
  • team to ensure timely completion of project activities and problem-solve barriers.
  • Conduct quarterly (or as needed) project review with the team and implementing partners and develop action plans for any improvements.
  • Participate in monthly progress review meeting, present analysis and key field visit finds and make recommendations
  • Build PR and implementing partners’ capacity in CHTB, TB-HIV and Preventive TB Treatment protocols and guidelines; keep self and others abreast of the latest developments at national and global level in this specific area.

Works Directly With: Senior Program Manager TB ProgramTechnical Advisors of Enhanced Case Finding and Active Case Finding components, M&E OfficersMEL Team, Data Management Unit and implementing partners

Minimum Qualification and Experience

MBBS with Masters in Public health  ‘or’

Masters’ in Public health with at least three years of experience in Public Health projects preferably in TB projects

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of national TB control guidance, implementation, and evaluation protocols.
  • Familiarity with international TB scenario.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in training and capacity-building is desired.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel nationally on need basis.
