Program / Department Summary:
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Mercy Corps Pakistan through the support of National TB Control Program (NTP) funded by The Global Fund support is implementing a multiyear grant “Contribute towards the response to COVID-19 and to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the fight against HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, and strengthen health and community systems in Pakistan” in 11 districts of the country. The goal of the program is to curtail the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on TB, HIV/AIDS and Malaria control programs in the country through improved WASH facilities in selected health facilities, implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures, and increased awareness of COVID-19 risks and prevention.
The activities will focus on: 1) improving access to public health services, including safe health facility WASH access and basic PPE for healthcare facility staff, 2) capacity building of healthcare workers on IPC and development of guidelines of bi-directional screening, for both COVID-19 and TB, and 3) support Common Management Unit (CMU) in tailoring and disseminating accurate and timely information about COVID-19 in local languages to increase awareness of COVID-19 risks and prevention.
While implementing the program, Mercy Corps will ensure Do No Harm in its activities. One of the major risks involved in the program is exposure of Mercy Corps and healthcare facility staff as well as program participants to COVID-19, which will be mitigated by providing guidance and orientation to Mercy Corps in-country staff, the healthcare facility staff and program participants.
General Position Summary:
The Program Officer will assist the Program team in the implementation and management of all aspects of the WASH and IPC training activities in the program that targets 11 districts of the country. Program Officer will provide the overall event management, planning, organizing, reporting and coordination of WASH and IPC activities. This position is based in Islamabad and supports the Project Manager in day-to-day activities and documentation for operations and finance sections. The scope of work includes points but is not limited to the below points.
