· Responsible for closely observing patients, noting specific procedures and prescribed medication for each case. Undertakes a comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment of patients using suitable assessment tools.
· Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patients' clinical status.
· Evaluate patients' vital signs and laboratory data to determine emergency intervention needs.
· Administer blood and blood products, monitoring patients for signs and symptoms related to transfusion reactions.
· Administer medications intravenously, by injection, orally, through gastric tubes, or by other methods.
· Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, transducers, and pressure lines.
· Assist doctors in providing physical assessments and administering treatments.
· Monitor vital signs and ensuring the proper functions of feeding tubes, ventilators, catheters and other life support equipments; attending to the patient’s overall needs, such as feeding, bathing and grooming, dressing replacement, medication intake, and comfort.
· Work efficiently with other practical nurses and nursing assistants in the ICU ward and be able to provide clear directions and guidance for procedures and routines.
· Must be able to react decisively and intelligently in emergencies, perform and assist in medical procedures with accuracy, expertly operate life support machines and other medical equipments, and carefully look after patients with severe medical conditions.
· Should be able to provide support and education to the patient’s family, answering questions and giving vital instructions on how to care for the patient.
· Document patients' medical histories and assessment findings.
· Should adhere to strict adherence to health and safety standards.
· Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
· Following & complying with policies & processes & applying them to their own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
