The Consultant will:

  • Attend rostered sessions and perform work according to the monthly timetable
  • Provide clinically appropriate assessment, interpretation and reporting on imaging
  • Work with other team members to mutually agreed with work schedules and a waiting list
  • Management processes, in consultation with the Head of Department / Service Manager.
  • Facilitate access to imaging and provide timely reporting that facilitates efficient patient flows and meets treatment objectives within agreed protocols and guidelines.
  • Diagnosis of various abdominal/pelvic pathologies.
  • Interventional procedures like ultrasound-guided fluid aspiration, foreign body removal.
  • Interpretation of various radiological images 
  • Anomaly scans and obstetrical Doppler ultrasound.
  • Diagnosis Gynecological pathology.
  • Should be able to interpret reports of x-rays, CT scan, and MRI.
  • Adhere to the protocols, guidelines, and practice standards of the area of clinical practice
  • Communicate effectively with and provide advice on inpatients referred by hospital specialist
  • Provide verbal advice to GP’s who telephone for assistance.
  • Attend and actively participate in clinical departmental meetings

Emergency Department

The Consultant will:

  • Be available to respond to referrals from the Emergency Department and provide a timely turnaround of formal radiology reports following the departmental schedule of responsibilities. Advice the referrer of unexpected incidental findings identified on imaging.
  • Make telephone contact with the referrer to the advice of findings that require critical and urgent.

Outpatient Department

      • The Consultant will adhere to the agreed waiting time criteria for booking of cases.

      • The standards for patient waiting time in clinics will be adhered to. Guidelines for the management of patients in clinics will be adhered to.
