The Project Manager is is responsible for programme planning, monitoring, documentation and ensuring the efficient delivery on the planned programme results and targets.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Contributes in programme planning and implementation management through evidence generation, data analyses and drafting project documents, concept notes, literature review and other documents, as appropriate.
  • Leads on developing detailed implementation plan of the programme in all interventions districts and ensures efficient and effective implementation on the planned results and targets.
  • Develops robust monitoring and evaluation plan and detailed plans for the monitoring, implementation and documentation of the programme throughout the programme life-cycle.
  • Designs and conducts interventions and activities to document lessons-learning from the implementation on various components of the programme and makes it accessible to management, UNICEF and other relevant stakeholders for informing decisions about improvements in the programme planning and its design as well as implementation arrangements.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge repositories for ready access to relevant evidence and data on the programme and activities and topics related to the programme as well as related to child protection, child protection system, case management, child protection policies and the child protection services.
  • Facilitates and assists technical experts and consultants in the conduction of various studies and analyses and developing policies and strategies related to child protection system strengthening especially the case management and referral system in consultations with stakeholders.
  • Supports in maintaining networking with relevant stakeholders, policy and decision makers and services providers through proactive and regular meetings of the technical working group, Afghan Refugee working group and other forums and tracking progress on the agreed plans and action points.
  • Supports in the development and customization of relevant capacity building materials and resources for the professionals working in child protection units, child protection helpline and other related services and organizes, coordinates and conducts trainings and capacity building interventions.
  • Supports in the designing, implementation, coordination, monitoring and documentation of prevention interventions, demand for uptake of the child protection case management, integrated referral system and child protection helpline.
  • Supports in the mentoring and supervision of professionals working in child protection units, child protection helpline and other child protection services and programmes.
  • Supports planning, coordination and supervision of strategies for deinstitutionalization of children in residential care and their sustainable reunification and reintegration within families, communities and society.
  • Proactively explores the opportunities for use of technology in delivering child protection and welfare services to communities epically the most at-risk and vulnerable groups and individuals including through the use of social, print and electronic media as well as information management systems.
  • Ensure that government partners and other relevant stakeholders are aware of relevant policy guidelines, technical standards and relevant commitments that the Government/concerned authorities have undertaken under international human rights law related to children.
  • Ensure that project execution is in-line with applicable standard of ethics, code of conduct, policy guidance, technical standards, and human rights legal obligations.
  • Make sure that the principle of DO-NO-HARM is comprehensively integrated into all aspects of the programme implementation, monitoring and reporting, including coordination and interaction with media and the use of any technology.
  • Guide and facilitate the development of an appropriate, effective and efficient monitoring, documentation and reporting mechanism for the programme in which roles and responsibilities are clearly and sufficiently distributed among the relevant staff members including KP Government Department and SWD.
  • Ensure that implementation, monitoring and reporting are in full compliance with the agreed monitoring indicators and performance benchmarks and that the Information Management System (MIS) is developed and maintained towards this goal.
  • Ensure comprehensive reporting, documentation and data analysis on the programme implementation, lessons learnt, challenges, monitoring and evaluations and how they feed into programme improvements on continuous basis and evidence based advocacy.
  • Support the conduction of monthly and quarterly programme reviews and reporting the results of same to KP Government Department, SWD and UNICEF.

  Essential Requirements  

  • Master in Social Sciences and / or Human Rights and Public/Social Policy;              
  • At-least 8 years of relevant professional experience in managing, leading and coordinating child protection / social development programmes.
  • Relevant professional experience of working with / for the government is asset, particularly in KP
  • Relevant professional experience in team leadership, project management and coordination with diverse group of government and stakeholders and partners.
  • Relevant professional experience in producing quality documentation, project reports, lesson learnt papers, as well as monitoring and assessment reports (both qualitative and quantitative).
