OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
To supervise the medical functions of AAU on a day- to- day basis and provide leadership to staff to work as a cohesive team and deliver the services effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Should examine clients after intake, advise further investigations if necessary.
- Review baseline investigations and ART regimen if available with client.
- Clients medical examination at the time of intake and discharge.
- Supervise and monitor ART Adherence of clients according to prescribed regime.
- Initiate ART, Treat symptomatic syndromes related to the side effects of ARV’s and other ailments of clients during Rehabilitation.
- Prescribe treatment and referrals for treatment of tuberculosis, treatment of STIs and/or treatment of opportunistic infections.
- Coordinate with special clinics for further expert opinion and interventions if required.
- Counsel out the client towards safe sex, condom usage, ART adherence, proper nutrition and positive living.
- Monitor the consumption and availability of prescription drugs, other consumables at AAU and appraise finance department for making necessary arrangements.
- Check stock register of medicines at AAU and sign register every day.
- Deliver lectures to clients according to AAU program schedule.
- Make sure that all medical records and registers are updated on a daily basis and reports are sent to the concerned authorities timely.
- Facilitate clients to government hospitals in case of medical emergencies and record expert opinion of senior specialists.
- Attend training programs conducted for medical officers, whenever deputed.
- Ensure that all the guidelines for running and maintaining AAU are abided by.
- Besides all the above, any other duty assigned by the program director pertaining to AAU services.
