Media and Research AM will work on a number of research related activities, including:
Developing content for research and communication based proposals and initiatives.
Monitoring mainstream media on conflict related news
Develop research and analysis reports
Conduct desk and field based research for program activities
Major Responsibilities (TORs):
Regularly monitor and analyze mainstream media (tv, newspapers) and social media on issues relevant to conflict and violence reporting/coverage, and regularly generate reports.
Assist in developing quantitative and qualitative research studies of the organization.
Preparing any research related communication materials (briefs, presentations, etc.).
Assist in preparing TORs and research briefs for the commissioning of research work.
Coordinate and assist in preparing content for project activities, including concept notes, presentations, project proposals, analysis reports, discussion guides, questionnaires and all other research related activities.
Perform data analysis using statistical software for research reports.
Identify and curate academic and practitioner based research studies being conducted in the field of peace studies.
Assist in producing insightful research and media analysis reports with sophisticated and actionable recommendations to support policy decision-making.
Assist in all relevant tasks as delegated by line manager.
Any other tasks assigned by the management.
MSc/BSc in Political Science, International Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, or a relevant field (essential)
3+ years of experience conducting research and analysis in the fields of conflict resolution, peace building, or related development projects (essential)
Experience in project documentation and management in research projects for local or international think tanks, NGOs, or INGOs (essential)
At least 1 year’s experience working in editing or research capacity for a news media house [television channel, newspaper] (essential)
Must be well versed in knowledge and usage of statistical analysis software, such as NVIVO, SPSS, STATA, etc. (essential)
Experience of working on projects related to mainstream media and social media (highly preferred)
Good writing and reporting skills, both in English and Urdu (essential)
2+ years of experience in quantitative and qualitative research study planning, implementation and management (desirable)
Good hands on knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint (desirable)
