Part time accountant

We are a growing software house located in North Nazimabad, Karachi, seeking a reliable and organized Part-Time Accountant with proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on accounting experience in a technology-driven environment. The position involves managing financial records, invoicing, vendor payments, payroll, and reporting to support our operational needs. Working hours are flexible and part-time, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, offering a balanced schedule alongside other commitments.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain daily bookkeeping and financial records using QuickBooks Desktop, including recording transactions, managing the chart of accounts, journal entries, receipts, payments, and expenses. Handle accounts payable by processing vendor bills and payments related to software services, licenses, and other vendors. Manage accounts receivable by invoicing clients for software and services, tracking payments, and following up as needed.

Perform routine bank and cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy between internal records and bank statements. Generate periodic financial reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow summaries, and other management reports. Assist with payroll processing by recording salaries, advances, deductions, and related entries for developers and staff when applicable.

Ensure accuracy and consistency in bookkeeping by correcting errors, making adjusting entries, and maintaining organized financial files. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including preparation for audits or compliance documentation as required. Provide financial data and insights to management to help analyze expenses, revenue streams, cash flow trends, and profitability.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting experience. Proven proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop or similar accounting software, preferably with experience in service-based or technology businesses. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, ledger management, reconciliation, payables/receivables, and accruals.

Competence in spreadsheet tools such as Excel for data management, including exports, imports, adjustments, and supplementary reporting. High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, reliability, and trustworthiness in handling sensitive financial data. Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal teams such as development, HR, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Prior experience in accounting or bookkeeping for a software house, technology services, or other service-based companies is advantageous. Familiarity with payroll, statutory compliance, and local tax or financial regulations in Pakistan, especially those relevant to software firms, is preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, well-suited for a part-time or hybrid working model. Flexibility in working hours to accommodate fluctuations in revenue and expenses typical in tech businesses, including project-based billing and vendor payments.
