BACKGROUND:
The PEP Foundation, a 501C non-profit, has worked with the higher education sector in Pakistan for the last 25 years. As part of its work, the Foundation currently manages two entrepreneurship specific programs namely, The Student Start-Up Business Centers (SSBC) and the Impact Network.pk. Between the two programs, the Foundation currently has access to over 56 Business Incubation Centers as well as a network of over 30 formal institutional partners supporting entrepreneurship.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The national project “A systems approach to building women’s entrepreneurship in Pakistan” aims to create a measurable impact through building linkages between existing entrepreneurial ecosystems and support mechanisms. This pilot project anticipates the identification of, and solutions to:
- gaps in the existing women’s entrepreneurial value chain,
- issues specific to women’s incubation in Pakistan
- differences in access and constraints across the social classes for women entrepreneurs
SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Regional Lead Instructor will lead the entrepreneur support component of the project, taking an active role in the design, implementation and monitoring of the training program. The Regional Lead Instructor will report to the Program Technical Lead. The Regional Lead Instructor is expected to:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant local public and private stakeholders (e.g. vocational training institutions, women chambers, multinational companies)
- Contribute to the local contextualization of entrepreneurship and enterprise development materials, design, plan and implement training activities and plans, materials and tools, conduct pre- and post-tests as required
- Identify gaps and lead the design and delivery of business development services for entrepreneurs
- Draft reports on completion of project activities and inputs into narrative project reports
- Oversee, mentor and build the capacity of the Incubator’s Manager and team
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of five years’ experience in entrepreneurship / SME development required
- Experience working in one or more of the following areas an asset: business skills training, national or international business incubation centers, and business development services
- Fluency in local languages is desirable
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
- High degree of initiative, flexibility and creativity
- Ability to work well within a small team and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel required
- Provision of 2 professional references is mandatory
