JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will provide Analytical and Technical Support to operate Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP)& Environmental Lab.The incumbent will also support the Projects & Compliance Lead in rolling out and ensuring compliance with all global, PepsiCo, regulatory as well as plant specific policies, procedures, systems and programs, essentially covering Environmental Compliance& Waste Management.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Accurate, timely operation of WWTP, analysis of effluent samples and reporting and interpretation of data.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues relating to WWTP operation and lab testing.
  • Achieve Environmental compliance against local & global standards.
  • Inventory Management for smooth WWTP& Lab operations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers and maintenance departments for Reliable WWTP operation.
  • Define performance goals, track and analyze performance measures andestablish / implement improvement plans to continuously improve Environmental Management System.
  • Provide accurate data to support the AOP, MOH controls & Capital plan process.
  • Demonstrates awareness to personal and others’ safety in area of responsibility.
  • To lead and sustain ISO 14001 certification by fulfilling all the requirements and providing guidance and support to other functions.
  • Waste data reporting on monthly basis for KPI reporting on Global Matrix. Implementation of waste reduction initiatives in coordination with other function to achieve & sustain 100% waste recycle / reuse for site waste.
  • Support in roll out & implementation of MyEHS & Corporate Environmental Standards.
  • Carryout Self Audit against Environmental Corporate Standards,develop action plans, monitor & report progress using MyEHS tool.
  • Act as site System Expert for deploying & sustaining MyEHS tool.
  • Coordinating all effluent & stack analysis internally/externally as per set frequency and maintain auditable records.
  • Ensuring calibrations & maintenance of all required EMS related equipment
  • Ensure applicable standards implementation in area of responsibility (AIB, EMIS, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, GMP, GLP, PepsiCo standards etc.)
  • To lead and sustain ISO 14001 certification by fulfilling all the requirements and providing guidance and support to other functions
  • To ensure adequacy of WWTP to fulfill future PepsiCo Environmental Standards by identifying bottlenecks in existing process. Liaise with consultants to make proposal and scope for debottlenecking and ensure to include in Site Master Plan

 

 CONTEXT

The incumbent should be capable to operate WWTP independently and also perform required tests to maintain compliance against local & PepsiCo standards.  The incumbent should also be capable to act as Site Subject Matter Expert for all aspects related to Environmental Compliance including but not limited to Air Emissions, Effluent Treatment, Waste Management and Spill Prevention &Control.

JOB BOUNDARIES

The position has to work within the company and local regulatory policies. Also, PepsiCo programs, procedures and requirements laid out are expected to be complied with while remaining within approved budgetary plans. The position has to work in coordination with all plant functions and PepsiCo Support Centre to ensure full implementation and complete compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, programs systems and reporting requirements.

The position has to consult with Projects & Compliance Lead regarding day-to-day decision making to ensure that only correct and quality decisions are made at all times.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Graduate in Scientific Discipline (closely related field would be preferred)

Specialized training: NEBOSH Environmental Certification would be preferable.

Functional Expertise: A deep knowledge of Environmental systems, plant operation, Lab’s systems and processes. For example, effluent testing, calibrations, analytical methods, excellent analytical / numerical skills to identifying trends through proficient in use of MS Excel, SPC etc.

Productive Communication:  Needs to be able to clearly explain requirements of environmental standards, and where they are not being met, emails communications, SOP/methods development skills.

Experience required:

 

  • At least 2-3 years relevant experience in Waste Water Treatment Plant operation      
  • Knowledge of the International and National Environmental Regulatory Standards
  • Experience of working in a team based environment
