Is responsible for planning, managing and supervising terminal operations during shift to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the terminal, considering commercial, safety and operational factors while adhering to port policies and procedures.

  • To ensure the load and discharge is performed accurately, safely and timely.
  • To manage motivate and instruct operations personnel in day to day activities and yard management.
  • To ensure high productivity achievement maximum utilization of equipment and labor.
  • To be responsible as a focal point for all yard activities and vessel loading and unloading activities during the shift.
  • To provide work planning for the shifts based on vessel schedules.
  • To ensure proper pre-staging and housekeeping is carried out on continual basis for speedy operations.
  • To work closely with PIBT Terminal management and customer service teams to ensure yard traffic is handled in a timely manner.
  • To interact with trucking companies to facilitate timely delivery of cargo.
  • To ensure timely berthing and sailing of vessel, arrange vessel draft survey and cargo sampling.
  • To ensure good working relations with Pakistan Customs & PQA Marine Department.
  • To liaise with Capacity Planner, assist in determining priorities during congestion and notify to management.
  • To ensure the visit to vessel before the end of shift and check whether any abnormality is observed by ship commands with regards to damages, Ops, conduct or any relevant matter, during shift hours.
  • Is responsible for notifying lines and reporting PIBT Senior Managers of any delays in vessels ETD.
  • To perform any job-related duties as assigned by superior.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in an open environment, exposed to all weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Standing and walking will be required throughout the course of a normal day.
  • The wearing of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, shoes, a safety vest and a hard hat will be required.
  • Other tasks related to cargo management will require sedentary period for computer input and document review.
