In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Anesthetist will lead and manage a team of ten healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance the quality of anesthesia services. Strong leadership and communication skills are necessary to supervise team members, coordinate care activities, and ensure adherence to best practices and institutional protocols. The candidate will be accountable for continuous improvement in anesthesia techniques, implementation of safety standards, and participation in ongoing education and training initiatives. Working within PEI, which focuses on improving health outcomes in underserved communities, the Anesthetist will contribute not only clinical expertise but also strategic insight to support the organization's mission of poverty eradication through enhanced healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments to develop tailored anesthesia plans considering medical history, physical status, and procedural requirements.
- Administer general anesthesia and other anesthesia techniques safely during surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Manage perioperative pain control and monitor patient responses to anesthesia, adjusting care as necessary to ensure comfort and safety.
- Assess airway conditions precisely and implement appropriate airway management strategies to prevent complications.
- Stratify anesthesia-related risks to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures before and during anesthesia.
- Operate and maintain anesthesia machines and ventilators, ensuring all equipment functions optimally during patient care.
- Utilize the Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS) for accurate documentation, real-time monitoring, and reporting of anesthesia care.
- Provide critical care support in emergency and intensive care settings, coordinating with other medical teams as required.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of ten healthcare professionals, promoting adherence to clinical protocols and continuous professional development.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to anesthesia care to maintain compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
- Participate in quality improvement programs to enhance safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of anesthesia services.
- Educate patients and families regarding anesthesia processes, risks, and postoperative care instructions to promote informed consent and cooperation.
- Stay updated on advances in anesthesia practice, integrating new techniques and technologies into clinical practice where appropriate.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other medical personnel to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain up-to-date certifications and licensure in accordance with national regulatory bodies and institutional requirements.

Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
