• Work with MNCH Coordinator on SPHP plan for MNCH component
  • Support in functionalizing Midwifery Led Safe Birth Centers in the districts/ region
  • Assist in work plan and monthly program report development.
  • Provide support to MNCH coordinator in planning and implementation of the activities.
  • Organize and facilitate in the capacity building of CMWs in MNCH related areas
  • Provide ongoing support to CMWs in establishing their the MLBCs
  • Strengthen the referral linkages from community to birth centers and to hospitals
  • Provide ongoing facilitative supervision to the assign CMWs
  • Strengthen the liaison with MNCH district management team and Midwifery Schools in the district
  • Support in functionalize skills labs in the Schools for competency based training of deployed CMWs
  • Ensure provision of quality MNCH services by community midwives by continuous OJT and mentoring.
  • Facilitate the entrepreneur skills training of CMWs including mentoring visit to improve their skills
  • Monitor progress towards the objectives as assigned by management
  • Work collaboratively with district team to produce effective implementation
  • Monitor the performance through program activities to ensure that the activities and are on target.
  • Liaison with other key departments (HR, finance etc.) to monitor the progress of the activities
  • Share success stories, pictures and report on best practices to communication team.  
  • Engage local community to enhance the credibility of CMWs
  • Strengthen the linkages between community midwifery and Lady Health Workers to improve primary health care
  • Facilitate in generating budget for the execution of planned activities  
  • Implementation of mobile application on clinical decision making (umeed say) and mhealth with LHWs program team in the districts
  • Identify trouble shooting with district IT person to support the intervention
  • Report the services delivery; quality indicators, entrepreneur; success stories on monthly basis.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and all team members including management
  • Ensure compliance with PEI operational policies and regulations.

Skills Required:

  • Nurse midwife/ LHV/ midwife with at least 4 years of technical experience and two years supervision experience
  • Have clinical training skills, specifically with Family Planning /Reproductive areas
  • Experience in working with CMWs
  • Good presentation skills, verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Ability to travel independently up to 80% of the time to the field and to other assign districts

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
