Project: Sindh Medical Support Program

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and lead activities of Sind Medical support program to ensure that goals, objectives and all elements of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
  • Review funding application to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establish work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arrange for assignment of project personnel.
  • Responsible for supervision of all consultants, the Partnership Coordinator/HUD Point of Contact, and all planning/administrative staff assigned to the Project to ensure it is on schedule and within budget.  Outline work plan to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required. Prepare and review project reports for presentation to Executive Committee.
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinate project activities with the Donor Coordinator.
  • Responsible for overall quality and management of the Sind Medical support program.
  • Coordinate with the Team of Consultants on public outreach, press releases, public presentations of the work and web site development and content.
  • Oversee budget, ensure financial accountability.
  • Recommend personnel for program/project implementation.
  • Supervise program delivery, assess client needs.
  • Recognize and solve potential problems and evaluate project/program effectiveness.
  • Provide program content expertise, which will include delivering public presentations about the Sind Medical support program and communicating the project’s purpose, value and importance to the Region.
  • Conduct research and write reports/articles.
  • Direct, plan and coordinate the work of the project staff including supervision and evaluation, training and team building.
  • Organize and attend weekly departmental meetings to maintain effective communication.
  • Ensure adequate and qualified staff to carry out the project activities
  • In consultation with the Project team, responsible for the selection, hiring, coaching, and discipline of the project employees.

 Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work or related field i.e. human services, health or education
  • Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Sound computer skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Bilingual

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
