Main Purpose of Job

The Project Engineer is expected to provide support to Program in accordance with organization guidelines. S/he will be responsible for working with communities through social mobilization unit and design local projects in accordance with organization vision, mission and objectives. Following this, S/he is to follow organization's systems and procedures in technical issues; mainly related to organizational development.

Job Responsibilities

As pat of the program management unit and under the direct supervision of the Project Manager the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Review and provide technical engineering support, information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for the successful implementation of the projects.
  • Full working knowledge of surveying techniques and procedures is necessary
  • Review and provide inputs for detailed cost estimates, planning, implementation and technical feasibility for project proposals
  • Determine staff input and time requirements for project construction, implementation and supervision
  • S/he shall at all times know progress of the ongoing projects with respect to planning and should be able to give details of why project ahead/behind schedule at all times
  • Provide complete support during supervision of constructions; carry out quality control inspections and monitor progress
  • Review and provide inputs to standard drawings, bills of quantities and detail materials list for projects
  • Provide proper guidelines for the tendering process and selection of vendors as per organizational policies
  • Prepare proper guidelines for the material selection and tracking the progress (Quality control and quality assurance)
  • Capacity building of the technical staff for proper project implementation and planning.
  • Where possible develop and propose new projects

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (BE)
  • Minimum 4 – 5 years’ experience in construction of building projects.

Language skills:

  • Effective verbal and nonverbal communications and convincing skills.
  • Must be a good listener
  • Fluent in English - Urdu and Local Languages

Essential requirements:

  • Knowing billing procedures, material quality testing, AutoCAD
  • Good analytical, planning, prioritizing and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication & report writing skills
  • An ability to work towards deadlines independently
