Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, LAN networks, Access points printers and scanners
- Installing different OS platform such as Linux, Ubuntu, and Microsoft windows
- Installing and configuring different virtualization platform i.e. VMware and Hyper-V
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
- Troubleshooting of LAN and WLAN issues.
- Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
- Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
- Providing technical support across the company (this may be in person or over the phone)
- Repairing and replacing computer/networking equipment as necessary
- Possibly training more junior staff members
- Co-ordinate with staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
- Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs
- Work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
- Priorities and manage many open cases at one time
- Test and evaluate new technology
- conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Information technology Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a technical support role
- Certification will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, A+, Linux+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
- Strong command Linux (ubuntu) running systems
- Good knowledge of Virtualization
- An ability to stick to strict deadlines
- The ability to work well in a team
- The ability to priorities workload
- Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
