The opportunity:

With a strong foundation in legal theory and practice, a willingness to learn and adapt, and a keen eye for creative and practical solutions to problems, the candidate will support TNS’ Legal Manager and Business Development team serving clients and pursuing strategic projects.

The role will involve working with a close-knit team to support our clients across a range of legal and administrative matters in various West African jurisdictions, including managing relationships with local legal service providers.

As a synthesizer and coordinator of legal advice, corporate secretarial, and related professional services across various jurisdictions, being organized, results-focused and comfortable working independently is critical.

Core roles: 

  • Engaging, liaising with, coordinating, and reviewing the work of local third-party advisors, including lawyers, administrators, and accountants. §Document review and drafting.
  • Reviewing and coordinating administrative filings.
  • Legal research and writing
  • Supporting corporate transactions, including managing legal due diligence, transaction negotiation, documentation and closing.
  • Overseeing and coordinating various functional arms of the TNS organization (e.g., accounting, advisory) and third-party advisors to meet client and regulatory deadlines. 
  • Working closely with the Legal Manager and TNS senior leadership on various strategic projects, as and when required. 

Basic qualifications:

  • Degree in common or civil law, or a certificate or diploma in paralegal, legal or corporate secretarial studies, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in client service and professional settings. §Fluency in written and spoken business and conversational English.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with basic business law concepts (company formation and administration, corporate governance and structures, contract review and basic drafting).
  • Ability to review and prepare basic corporate documents, including board and shareholder resolutions, non-disclosure agreements, and commercial agreements.
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental accounting and finance concepts and terminology.
