Responsibilities

  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate research projects, providing technical guidance and fostering innovation in biomedical engineering topics.
  • Develop and revise curricula to meet accreditation requirements and incorporate advances in biomedical science, engineering, and technology.
  • Conduct and publish original research in reputable journals, emphasizing areas such as medical imaging, biomaterials, biomechanics, and bioinstrumentation.
  • Write grant proposals and secure funding to support research initiatives, laboratory enhancement, and collaborative projects.
  • Collaborate with healthcare and industry partners to promote applied research and technology transfer opportunities, enriching student exposure and employability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards related to biomedical research and medical device development, including FDA and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Utilize and promote the use of biomedical instrumentation, simulation tools, and educational technologies such as MATLAB, OpenSim, 3D bioprinting software, and learning management systems including Moodle.
  • Mentor and guide students in academic planning, research methodologies, and professional development.
  • Contribute actively to departmental committees, curriculum accreditation processes, and institutional research goals.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, and continuous professional development to stay current with biomedical engineering advancements and teaching methodologies.
  • Implement and manage laboratory operations ensuring safety, equipment maintenance, and support for research and teaching activities.
  • Analyze data using statistical software and apply experimental design principles to validate research hypotheses and biomedical models.
  • Promote a multidisciplinary environment integrating engineering and healthcare expertise to address complex biomedical challenges.
