Riphah International University is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant specializing in Biomedical Engineering to support its undergraduate laboratory sessions. This position plays a vital role in assisting faculty and students with laboratory experiments and ensures that all biomedical equipment is functional, safe, and well-maintained.
The Lab Assistant supports the academic and research activities by preparing and organizing the laboratory, supervising the use of biomedical instruments, and adhering strictly to established safety measures. This role involves meticulous management of laboratory inventory and active collaboration with faculty members to enhance the learning environment. Attention to detail, technical aptitude, and commitment to safety are essential to excel in this position.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, organization, and execution of laboratory sessions tailored for undergraduate biomedical engineering courses.
- Support faculty and students during lab experiments by providing technical assistance and ensuring the proper use of biomedical equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all biomedical instruments to guarantee their optimal operation.
- Implement and strictly follow laboratory safety procedures to create a secure and compliant working environment.
- Maintain and update the laboratory inventory, including equipment, supplies, and instruments, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Collaborate with the academic team to set up new experiments and demonstrations as required for the course curriculum.
- Monitor laboratory conditions, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Provide training to students on the safe handling and operation of biomedical equipment.
- Document maintenance activities, equipment usage logs, and safety compliance records accurately.
- Assist in the procurement process by recommending necessary equipment and supplies needed for lab operations.
