Riphah International University seeks an experienced Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering to join our academic faculty. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education through effective teaching, supervision of laboratory activities, and guidance of student projects. This role requires a strong foundation in biomedical engineering principles, medical instrumentation, and hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and simulation tools. The individual will contribute meaningfully to curriculum development, quality assurance, and applied research activities, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for careers in biomedical engineering and related healthcare technologies.
The Senior Lecturer will be responsible for maintaining academic standards through research, publishing, and grant writing, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the university. Although the position does not involve team management, the candidate will provide mentorship and academic support to students, facilitating their learning and professional growth. The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline, a minimum of three years' teaching or industry experience, and a strong record of publications. Familiarity with modern educational technologies and Learning Management Systems enhances the ability to deliver contemporary and engaging education experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate course content focused on biomedical engineering, including lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions.
- Supervise and mentor students in laboratory experiments, project work, and research activities ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop and update the curriculum to incorporate recent advancements in biomedical signal processing, medical imaging techniques, and biomedical instrumentation.
- Engage in scholarly activities including academic publishing, preparation of grant proposals, and participation in applied research projects relevant to biomedical engineering.
- Manage laboratory resources efficiently, including equipment maintenance, procurement, and compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
- Collaborate across departments and disciplines to enhance interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives within the university.
- Assess student performance through evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support academic development to improve learning outcomes.
- Contribute to departmental quality assurance measures and participate actively in departmental and university committees and initiatives.
- Utilize Learning Management Systems and modern educational technologies to enhance course delivery and student engagement.
- Support student mentorship programs, providing academic guidance and career advice.
- Employ statistical analysis software such as SPSS and SAS to analyze research data and assist students in data interpretation.
- Maintain updated knowledge of biomedical engineering standards including DICOM protocols, image reconstruction algorithms, and CT/MRI imaging technologies.
- Prepare and manage grant budgets and maintain databases for research and fundraising activities.
- Ensure compliance with biomedical regulatory standards and institutional guidelines during laboratory and research activities.
