Riphah International University seeks an experienced Senior Lecturer in Medical Lab Technology to deliver high-quality education and training to undergraduate students. The role involves teaching core subjects such as Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, and Blood Banking through lectures and practical demonstrations. The successful candidate develops and implements lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments to facilitate effective learning. This position requires a candidate with a Masters degree completed in Medical Lab Technology and at least three years of post-Masters experience accompanied by a minimum of one published research paper in the field. The candidate demonstrates expertise in various clinical laboratory techniques, quality control measures, and laboratory safety protocols. The individual contributes to the academic environment by mentoring students, supervising laboratory practicals with strict adherence to biosafety standards, and engaging in curriculum development and research activities that advance the departments goals. Although this role does not include team management, it demands collaboration and guidance within academic and clinical settings to ensure comprehensive student development and institutional excellence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lectures and conduct practical demonstrations in core Medical Lab Technology subjects, including Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, and Blood Banking.
- Develop detailed lesson plans, prepare teaching materials, create assessments, and design practical manuals that align with academic standards and course requirements.
- Evaluate student performance through quizzes, assignments, practical examinations, and viva voce to ensure knowledge retention and skill competency.
- Plan and supervise laboratory practical sessions, ensuring compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety protocols, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate academic records, attendance logs, and detailed student progress reports to track educational outcomes and areas for improvement.
- Support and coordinate clinical training, student internships, and establish productive linkages with industry partners to provide real-world experience and enhance practical skills.
- Mentor and guide students in their academic and research pursuits, fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes intellectual growth and professional development.
- Apply quality control and assurance methods in laboratory practices to uphold high standards in experimental accuracy and data reliability.
- Utilize advanced molecular diagnostic techniques including PCR and microscopy methods to demonstrate cutting-edge clinical applications.
- Oversee the usage of Laboratory Information Management Systems and ensure data management integrity and compliance with quality management systems and regulatory standards.
- Implement and monitor laboratory safety protocols such as Chemical Hygiene Plans and Biological Safety Cabinet operation to reduce risks and enforce biological safety standards.
- Engage in research methodologies and scientific investigation to contribute to the academic body of knowledge and support departmental research initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to continuously update the educational curriculum enhancing the relevance and effectiveness of the Medical Lab Technology program.
