Salienci is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend / AI Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of an AI-native SaaS platform. This role is best suited for backend/platform engineers who enjoy solving operational and architectural problems, not just implementing isolated features. This role focuses on building modular backend systems, reporting and scoring engines, AI-assisted workflows, and operational automation. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in Python/FastAPI, PostgreSQL, distributed systems, container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines to create scalable and reliable SaaS applications. Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GPT is highly preferred and will enable the candidate to innovate with next-generation AI capabilities integrated into backend systems. We are specifically looking for engineers with strong systems thinking, operational rigor, debugging depth, testing discipline, and experience turning evolving product requirements into stable production systems. This individual enjoys addressing complex architecture challenges and transforming evolving requirements into stable production environments. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English enable effective collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across stakeholders. Although this position does not involve managing a team, it requires the ability to work independently and contribute significantly to the technical direction of backend and AI-related systems. Experience working with evolving specifications and modular architectures is highly valued. The ideal candidate is comfortable stabilizing evolving systems under changing requirements and has strong debugging, testing, and production incident analysis skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain modular and scalable backend systems that support AI-assisted workflows and SaaS products.
- Develop and optimize reporting and scoring engines to provide accurate insights and metrics.
- Build and deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Develop continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing, building, and releasing software.
- Write robust, testable, and maintainable code primarily in Python with FastAPI framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate evolving architectural requirements into stable production systems.
- Apply strong debugging and testing techniques to identify and fix issues swiftly throughout the development cycle.
- Integrate and leverage AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GPT to enhance development processes.
- Ensure operational rigor by monitoring system health, implementing logging and alerting, and responding to incidents promptly.
- Evaluate system performance and scalability, proposing architecture improvements to handle increasing workloads.
- Document backend architectures, workflows, and processes clearly to support ongoing maintenance and onboarding.
