Sam Construction seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in cost estimation, procurement management, and construction contract administration. In this role, you will analyze project costs, prepare detailed quantity take-offs from AutoCAD and PDF drawings, and manage procurement processes to ensure effective budget control and cost efficiency. You will also be responsible for billing, contract management, and supporting supply chain activities, requiring a comprehensive understanding of construction law and contract standards such as NEC Contracts.
This position involves leading and mentoring a small team of one, coordinating tasks, and ensuring quality deliverables that support successful project completions. The ideal candidate has 4-5 years of relevant experience and proficiency in cutting-edge tools including Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Automated Bill of Quantities (BOQ) software. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams are essential to succeed in this role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct precise billing and quantity take-offs from AutoCAD and PDF documents to support accurate project costing.
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost estimation reports utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Automated BOQ software.
- Manage procurement planning and supplier coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
- Administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with NEC Contracts and other contract requirements.
- Oversee construction law compliance and provide expert guidance on contractual obligations and risk management.
- Support supply chain management efforts by monitoring delivery schedules and tracking supplier performance.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to optimize cost control strategies and reduce budget overruns.
- Lead and supervise a team member, providing mentorship, assigning tasks, and reviewing work quality.
- Utilize CostX software and similar tools to track project expenditures and provide financial updates to stakeholders.
- Maintain and update procurement documentation, ensuring transparency and audit readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements related to quantity surveying, cost estimation, and construction technologies.
- Implement best practices in quantity surveying processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy across projects.
