The Psychologist will be based in Islamabad and will work under the direct supervision of the Child Welfare Projects Manager. The incumbent would be responsible for providing assistance in field activities and office work; Assessment of orphan children and their families before providing them counselling, home visits, , planning and execution of counselling activities in consultation with child welfare projects manager, provide quality services to sponsored children and their families through effective performance management in designated working areas. He/she will also ensure regular reporting on the progress of program implementation and maintenance of confidential information related to sponsored children’s/families. The psychologist will also support in awareness raising and capacity building activities.

MISSIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Objective 1: Ensure Smooth Implementation of the Project

Activities:

-        Develop in depth understanding of project documents (PMP, project proposal, and proposal) as well as business process / DIP for planning & implementation of project activities.

-        Conduct psycho-social assessment and screening of orphan children and their families through individual assessment before providing them counselling sessions.

-        Along with initial psychosocial assessment,conduct emotional health assessment as per need.

-        Group and individual level psychosocial counselling will be conducted for orphan children and their families at community level.

-        Develop activity based counselling sessions for children to boost up their confidence and to provide PSS.

-        Develop resource material for counselling sessions, psycho-social support sessions for children and their families.

-        Contribute towards establishing appropriate methodologies and approaches for post-traumatic stress disorder counselling and emotional support for sponsored families.

-        Support in capacity building and awareness raising activities.

-        To ensure the sustainability, effective linkages will be built with free psycho-social services providers.

Objective 2: Manage the record/data base

Activities:

-        Maintain database of orphans sponsorship and other projects.

-        Maintain record of visits to orphans home.

-        Maintain record of clusters visited.

-        Maintain database of contact details of families/ guardians and stakeholders.

-        Maintain database of OSP.

-        Maintain database of services provided to orphan children and their families by SIF.

-        Beneficiaries’ data protection in hard form and in database.

-        Collect impact oriented case studies and other documents for project visibility. 

Objective 3: Coordination

Activities:

-        Smooth running of the orphans program by maintaining close coordination with the sponsored families.

-        Identify local partners and other organizations working in same area to avoid duplication.

-        Assist the project manager in keeping close coordination with INGO/NGOs and relevant stakeholders.

-        Mobilize and empower the community groups.

-        Referral mechanisms will be developed with institutions/organization working on mental & emotional health.

-        Coordination with logistics, finance and other relevant departments for the implementation of project activities.

Objective 4 : Reporting

Activities:

-        Prepare and submit monthly plan of field activities for effective planning.

-        Support timely submission of monthly report.

-        Support in time submission of each sponsor report.

-        Support in time submission of group meeting minutes.

-        Submission of stakeholders meeting minutes.

-        Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories on monthly basis.

Objective 5: Monitoring & Evaluation of the project

Activities:

-        Assist program team visits to field           

-        Assist program team in conducting field assessments as per need of the project

-        Efficient monitoring and evaluation of orphan projects in order to obtain desired results.

-        Hold monthly / quarterly meetings with clusters/committees to address findings from monitoring.

-        Regular monitoring of allocated orphan families in the field by conducting individual domestic visits.

-        Collection of school performance forms from field. Its data entry and maintaining database.

-        School visits of orphan children to monitor their performance in school and see if the sponsorship used for children’s education.

Objective 6: Child Protection

Activities:

-        Ensure the security of the sponsor child addresses during activities.

-        Systematically do a child protection quality check for all correspondences to ensure that correspondence materials and contents do not negatively affect the holistic growth and development of children

-        Sensitize children including guardians/parents and other stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities.

-        Referrals of child protection cases for services.

-        Sensitize families on complaint response mechanism and on safeguarding policy.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIOR

-        Minimum Qualification required: Masters in Psychology, Social psychology, Clinical psychology along with relevant experience of providing counselling and psycho-social support to vulnerable groups such as children, women, and persons with disability.

-        Experience:  2-3 years

-        Preferred: Above 1 year experience in Child related projects/program/social mobilization, field work as well as know-how of local community (Islamabad/Rawalpindi).

Technical Skills & Abilities:

-        Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills

-        Ability to work individually

-        Good computer skills

-        Management information system skills

-        Skills in report writing

-        Basic knowledge in Child Sponsorship

-        Flexibility and adaptability are required

-        Strong emotional intelligence and resilience, and able to maintain self-control in difficult situations.

-        Able to work under extreme conditions in field areas.

-        Good communication skills in local as well as English / Urdu language which delivers the information with clarity in a wide range of situations.
