The Information Security team plays a critical role in protecting Careem’s digital ecosystem. Within this team, the Cybersecurity Operations function is responsible for developing and managing advanced detection, monitoring, and incident response capabilities to safeguard the super app, services, and sensitive data from evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of security analysts and engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and proactive defense. Drive the adoption of automation and orchestration (SOAR) to streamline incident response, reduce manual efforts, and accelerate threat detection. Leverage machine learning and AI technologies to enhance threat detection beyond traditional rule-based approaches, turning data into a strategic security asset. Develop and implement proactive threat hunting strategies to identify vulnerabilities and adversaries before alerts arise. Define the long-term vision and roadmap for the Cyber Fusion Center, scaling security operations in alignment with the growth of Careem’s Super App. Oversee security tools, technologies, and strategic initiatives with a leadership approach comparable to a CEO of the Cyber Fusion Center. Collaborate closely with engineering, IT, legal, and fraud teams to integrate security seamlessly into development and incident response processes.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in cybersecurity, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. Demonstrated success in leading Security Operations teams or Cyber Fusion Centers, with a proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams. Deep expertise in SIEM, EDR, network security, cloud security, and threat intelligence platforms, along with familiarity with modern security technology stacks. Strong passion for automation and hands-on experience implementing it to improve operational efficiency; experience with SOAR platforms is highly desirable. Enthusiasm for AI and machine learning applications in cybersecurity, with practical experience or innovative ideas on applying these technologies to real-world security challenges.
