The Information Security team is crucial in protecting Careem’s digital ecosystem, with the Cybersecurity Operations function focused on advanced threat detection, continuous monitoring, and rapid incident response to safeguard the super app, its services, and customer data from evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities
Build and mentor a high-performing team of security analysts and engineers, fostering a culture centered on continuous learning, innovation, and proactive defense. Lead the design and continuous improvement of security operations and incident response frameworks, including the development of threat detection strategies and incident response playbooks. Drive the adoption of automation and orchestration (SOAR) to streamline incident response processes, reduce manual workloads, and accelerate threat detection by automating repetitive tasks. Leverage machine learning and AI technologies to advance threat detection capabilities beyond traditional rule-based systems, enabling prediction and prevention of sophisticated cyberattacks. Develop and execute proactive threat hunting strategies to identify vulnerabilities and adversaries before alerts are triggered. Define the long-term vision and strategic roadmap for the Cyber Fusion Center, managing security tools, technologies, and processes to support the scaling needs of the super app. Collaborate closely with engineering, IT, legal, and fraud teams to embed security practices across all development and response activities, breaking down organizational silos and fostering cross-functional cooperation.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity. Proven success in leading Security Operations teams or Cyber Fusion Centers, with demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing security talent. Deep expertise in SIEM, EDR, network security, cloud security, and threat intelligence platforms, with strong familiarity with modern security technology stacks. A strong passion for automation, with hands-on experience implementing automation solutions; experience with SOAR platforms is highly desirable. Enthusiasm for AI and machine learning applications in cybersecurity, supported by practical experience or innovative ideas for applying these technologies to enhance security operations.
