Position Responsibilities:
a. Provide technical advice to Donor’s Strategic Information and Workforce Development (SIWD) Branch of the Global Immunization Division (GID) regarding the training and field work of National Stop Transmission of Polio (NSTOP), and Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) teams. Example: Develop training materials and courses to train polio staff on enhancing the overall immunization surveillance system. Conduct refresher training for national immunization staff.
b. Provide advice in the strengthening of the AFP and VPD surveillance systems via coordination, monitoring and evaluation of surveillance activities. Includes travel to remote locations to conduct surveillance activities, which include: finding and reporting children with AFP, transporting stool samples for analysis (for the purpose of isolating and identifying poliovirus in the laboratory to map the genetic sequencing to determine the origin of the virus strain).
c. Conduct training for GPEI partners on the topics of evaluation and documentation of outbreak response activities to ensure that all lessons learned are effectively incorporated into current best practices.
