Senior Site Reliability Engineer I

The Infra FinOps Team at Careem focuses on maintaining and improving internal tools that monitor and manage cloud spending. As FinOps enablers, the team ensures adherence to AWS budgets by providing visibility, governance, and actionable insights to optimize infrastructure costs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
- Own, design, and maintain internal FinOps tools for AWS cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement cost visibility and governance mechanisms aligned with AWS budgets.
- Develop and maintain anomaly detection systems to identify unusual cost patterns early, ensuring payment corresponds only to actual usage.
- Automate data collection pipelines and cost analytics workflows using AWS services such as Athena, Glue, QuickSight, and S3.
- Continuously improve cost monitoring dashboards to enhance data reliability and coverage.
- Work closely with internal teams to enforce governance and budgeting policies through automation and alerting.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability and availability of FinOps tools and systems.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering, preferably with exposure to FinOps or cloud cost management.
- Strong expertise in AWS services, pricing models, and cost optimization strategies.
- Solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, and dashboarding tools like Athena and QuickSight.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Athena, Glue, QuickSight, and S3 for cost data analysis and visualization.
- Good knowledge of Kubernetes fundamentals, including how clusters, workloads, and scaling impact cost and resource utilization.
- Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, preferably Python, Go, or Bash.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, along with monitoring and alerting systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical metrics into financial impact.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across engineering and finance teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
