Now entering a new phase driven by artificial intelligence, Careem is seeking innovative AI professionals to develop impactful tools, automate workflows, and enhance experiences for both customers and internal teams. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (L10) within the Storage & Infrastructure team, you will focus on building, scaling, and automating core data services. Your work will support distributed systems such as MySQL, Postgres, Kafka, Cassandra, Redis, and OpenSearch, alongside emerging AI workloads like vector databases and large language model (LLM) query caches. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine operational excellence with contributions to AI-driven applications including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent memory systems, and AI observability tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, scale, and maintain cloud-native data systems on AWS.
- Automate storage operations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Pulumi.
- Support AI infrastructure components, including vector stores like Milvus, Weaviate, or Pinecone.
- Collaborate closely with machine learning engineers and platform teams to support LLM-powered services.
- Optimize and monitor system performance using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to post-incident reviews to ensure operational reliability.
- Design secure, scalable, AI-ready, and cost-efficient environments.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 to 8 years of experience managing distributed systems at scale.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or Bash.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Familiarity with distributed messaging and storage systems like Kafka, Redis, and Cassandra.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
